Halal pet food is not just marketing. It rests on four verifiable pillars:
1. Zabihah slaughter โ Any meat protein comes from animals slaughtered in accordance with Islamic law by a Muslim who invoked the name of Allah.
2. No haram cross-contamination โ Factories must be audited to prevent contact with pork derivatives, lard-based emulsifiers, or alcohol-based preservatives commonly used in the pet food industry.
3. No haram byproducts โ Many mainstream recipes hide gelatin, glycerin, or rendered fat from unknown sources. Halal certification traces every ingredient.
4. Tayyib (wholesome) โ Beyond the letter of the law, the food should be genuinely good: ethically sourced, nutritionally complete, and free from harmful additives.
At Pethalalfood we require certification from JAKIM (Malaysia), MUI (Indonesia), or HFCE (Europe) on every SKU, and we publish the certificates in the product page footer.
